Ashley L. Mohn, LICSW
I have been a teacher since 2007. In those years, I unknowingly developed a pattern of seeking out children who had various difficulties. Recognizing this with the help of my aunt and school counselor at Moorhead Public Schools, it became apparent that I was meant to work with others in a more therapeutic way.
Listening to stories that my family tells of my past reiterates my passion for people. My dad recently reminisced a time when we had a neighbor who most people avoided. He seemed rather grumpy and to little kids, somewhat scary. One day, he was mowing his lawn with a push-mower. My dad recalled that I decided to make lemonade and walk it over to him, without displaying any reservations. I did not listen to what others thought of our neighbor. I was determined to show love.
Realizing now that I strove to break social norms and show love all of my life, I have embraced it as my lifelong goal.
